"The time has come," Jesus said. "The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!" - Mark 1:15

Ash Wednesday Services
St. James Catholic Church will offer two Ash Wednesday Services. 7 am and 5:45 PM on March 6th. There are Lenten Guides at the back of Church & at present we ask that each family take one copy. Reminder: Ashes are a sacramental, so all can partake of this observance during Ash Wednesday, provided they are mindful of their Lenten observances.

Wednesday Masses
Each Wednesday during Lent, beginning on Ash Wednesday, our Faith Community will gather for an evening Mass starting at 5:45 PM. This falls directly in the middle of our Faith Formation groups for our students each week. A simple soup supper provided by volunteers from around our Parish will be served immediately following Mass.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
There will be adoration of the Blessed Sacrament every Thursday during Lent from 6:00 - 7:00 PM. Adoration on Holy Thursday will be after the 3:00 PM mass until midnight.

Stations of the Cross
Each Friday during the season of Lent the Stations of the Cross will be offered, 6:00 PM, rotating each week between English and Spanish. This traditional devotion dates back to the early pilgrims in Jerusalem. If you are new to the observance or haven't participated in some time as Fr. Demetrio will walk all through it's observance during the devotion.

Family Prayer
Bishop Etienne has requested that during this year we maintain daily prayer as families, especially for vocations. As well we ask that you as a family make a committment to pray the Angelus daily. If the Angelus is not fruitful for your family, perhaps read from a Gospel and have a discussion and prayer... the important thing is to commit to praying together daily as a family!

Wednesday Dinners
Immediately following our 5:45 PM masses throughout Lent we will have simple soup suppers available for those who attend since the Mass time falls directly in between the two Faith Formation class times.

KTC Fish Fries

Fasting and Abstinence
April 12, the Knights of Columbus will be offering a Fish Fry Dinner. These dinners do cost at the door, but go to benefit the scholarship fund for our local students. Cod, Hush Puppies, Fries, Cole Slaw, Tea Water and Coffee will all be served.
For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may also be taken, but not to equal a full meal. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.
